The People First Café is truly an act of collaboration!
A phone call between Parkersburg Area Community Foundation and The Arc of the Mid Ohio Valley saw a dream blossom and become a reality. That phone call led to an introduction to the Social Enterprise Ecosystem Program at Ohio University and over time led to research into and the development and feasibility of a café to provide:
• vocational training and employment opportunities for people with cognitive, intellectual, and related developmental disabilities in our community
• an outlet for the sale of handmade art by people with disabilities
• a new income stream to support the valuable programs and services offered to people with disabilities in our community
How can you help support People First Café?
• Stop by and get your daily cup of inspiration along with a baked good made by Whimsical Acorn • Remember we are a training location
• Spread the word letting your friends and family know there is a great way to give back to your community
