We are excited to be able to bring back our in-person Team Trivia on Tuesday, July 21! Yes, you read that right, we will be in-person!

We will be hosting this event at the Parkersburg Art Center!

 

Are you smarter than a 5th grader?
Do you have smart co-workers?
Do you have smart friends or family members?
Do you know the answers to Jeopardy before the contestants ring in?
Do you just enjoy a fun evening out?

Answer "Yes" to any of these questions and you must sign up to play in our next
Team Trivia Night to be held on Tuesday, July 21,
at the Parkersburg Art Center.

$25 for a team of 4 
(add up to 2 additional teammates for $5 each)
Teammates can be co-workers, family, friends 
- no requirements except that they be over the age of 21
Come up with a cool team name
Wear matching outfits or costumes for the Spirit Award 
- not required, only that you wear clothes

Refreshments and non-alcoholic beverages included in entry fee
BYOB if you so desire - but we kindly request just beer or wine

Prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams

We are working very closely with the Parkersburg Art Center to ensure we are adhering to State Guidelines. The event will be held in the Ballroom located on the 3rd floor to ensure proper social distancing between each of the tables. We are not requiring a Face Mask; however we do encourage that you wear one. All food items provided will be individually wrapped and we will provide disposable plates / silverware. We will have hand sanitizer available on-site. We will also be sending out a short COVID-19 questionnaire prior to the event. We encourage you to stay home if you are not feeling well.

Here’s your chance to support the MOV Chamber AND be in the running to win $1000! It’s the Luck of the Draw reverse drawing!

 

The work of the Chamber continues to ramp up, but several of our events, like the Women in Leadership Conference, have had to be postponed until next year. We are not ones to hang up our fiddles! We need your help to raise needed funds for your two favorite buckaroos to continue our mission through the end of the year.

 

Ok, cowpokes, gather ‘round. Here’s the scoop on the Luck of the Draw reverse drawing!

 

How’s this work?

From sun up on July 1 to sun down on July 31, we will be selling 100 Tickets for $100 each at the Chamber Saloon (otherwise known as in this email or over the phone.)

 

Have a lucky number?

Select that number on the order form OR just as the name implies, randomly pick one of the ticket numbers for your Luck of the Draw entry. Click REGISTER to confirm your number and the next step is to pay by credit card on-line. Prefer to use the Pony Express (regular mail)? That works too - just make sure we receive it before close of business on July 30 to reserve that number.

 

Don’t go dodging the law - numbers that have been reserved but not paid for by July 30 will be released for final last-minute sales on Friday, July 31.

 

I have 2 lucky numbers!

Guess what, prospector? You can purchase more than one ticket with all those gold coins and the paper money you’ve saved up. Or maybe you purchase one, your spouse purchases another, and so on… Please know the money is going to a great cause - YOUR Chamber of Commerce - so your generosity is greatly appreciated! To put it in cowpoke’s terms, you’ll be saving our bacon! And by getting more than one ticket, you’ve increased your chances of winning. (The only requirement is you must be over 21 to participate.)

 

When will you draw the tickets?

On Friday, August 7 at 7pm in the evening, we invite you to join us on-line via Zoom and Facebook Live as we draw ticket numbers. Your goal is to be the last ticket drawn and that ticket holder wins $1000. No bamboozling!

 

The week of August 3 we will bring you a fun Goody Bag with some notions (theme-related activities and munchies) so that you can play along from home, watching and waiting for your ticket to be drawn. There might be some specially marked items in the goody bags that will award other prizes, so best to keep it sealed up until 7pm on August 7 or the Chamber Sheriff might come round you up!

 

What about the rest of the tickets?*

In this situation being the first ticket drawn is not where you want to be, so we will award the first ticket with their $100 investment back.

The 10th, 20th, 30th, 40th and 50th Tickets drawn each receive $125.

The 60th, 70th, 80th and 90th Tickets drawn each receive $150.

The 91st, 92nd, 93rd, 94th and 95th tickets drawn each receive $175.

The 96th ticket drawn receives $200.

The 97th ticket drawn receives $250.

The 98th ticket drawn receives $300.

And the 99th Ticket drawn receives $500.

*Assumes all 100 tickets are sold. If less than 100 tickets are sold, the prize payout may be modified.

 

All non-winning tickets will be put into second chance drawings for cool door prizes and certificates donated by area businesses.

Virtual Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening for Exodus

Virtual Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening for Exodus
Join us for a Facebook Live event on Monday, August 31 at 3:30 PM celebrating the official ribbon cutting and grand opening of Exodus, Westbrook Health Service's newest substance use disorder treatment facility located in Parkersburg. We will be joined by Kevin Trippett, President & CEO of Westbrook Health Services, and his staff.

Exodus is a long-term residential facility that will be able to serve 12 adult male clients (ages 18+) at a time. Each week, clients will receive individual and group therapy with a trained Master’s level therapist, supportive group counseling, medication-assisted treatment, co-occurring psychiatric care, recovery support meetings, and other supportive services to help them build the life skills necessary to reintegrate back into the community.

Exodus is funded by a $1M grant from the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) to expand residential treatment services across the state. The funding is supported by the Ryan Brown Addiction Prevention and Recovery Fund as part of a comprehensive statewide plan to combat the opioid epidemic. Westbrook Health Services also received a $30K grant from the Bernard McDonough Foundation, Inc., to help furnish rooms, living areas, and meeting spaces in Exodus.
