The MOV Regional Airport, MOV Chamber and Wood County Economic Development Authority are excited to offer a special presentation for area businesses to learn more about Foreign Trade Zones from David Warner (WV Economic Development Authority) and Major Collins (US Customs and Border Patrol).

Learn how FTZs:

• Offer tax advantages for import/export
• Streamline customs paperwork and procedures
• Provide efficiency to your import/export processes

• Anyone already doing import/export

• Municipalities and elected officials
• Economic Development teams

This year marks our 33rd annual luncheon to bring together students, teachers, principals and business representatives in celebration of the MOV Chamber's Partner in Education program. 

Each school’s Business Partner is asked to help offset the cost of the luncheon so that 2 students, 2 school representatives and 2 business representatives attend on behalf of each partnership. The cost is $175 for the 6 attendees. If you would like to bring additional students, school representatives or business representatives, the cost is $25/person.

If your business is one of several partners for the same school, I recommend that you connect with one another and the principal (or the school's partner in education liaison) to decide how many attendees you want to sponsor or other special reservation instructions. There is a section on the form to jot those instructions or give me a call to chat. Once I receive the business partner RSVPs, I then follow up with the principals with an exact count so that tables are set up correctly and things flow smoothly on the day of the event.

Dr. John Deskins is the Director of Business and Economic Research and an associate professor at West Virginia University. His Economic Outlook reports for the State of West Virginia are very insightful and held in high regard by business leaders, legislators and municipalities.

We are honored that he is guiding a team of students in a new class at WVU this semester to prepare a regional economic study  and forecast report for the Mid-Ohio Valley.  And while you might be thinking that an economic presentation may be rather dry, please know Dr. Deskins is an entertaining and vibrant speaker. I'm confident he will mentor his students with the same characteristics. 

This will be a great in-depth and exclusive opportunity for our business community to hear firsthand from our State’s most esteemed economist and his students.
