Launch Meeting for Chamber Health Insurance Plan!

Do you provide healthcare coverage to your employees?  Are you looking for a plan that may be more cost efficient?
Has the cost of insurance kept you from offering healthcare insurance to your employees?

Announcing a new option for MOV Chamber members to consider!

We are proud to announce that WV small businesses with 2-99 employees who are members in good standing with the MOV Chamber of Commerce can now access a new insurance program to provide healthcare coverage to your employees.  This program is structured as a multiple-employer welfare association (MEWA) and was put together by the Wheeling Chamber and The Health Plan (THP).  Because of our collegial relationship with the Wheeling Chamber, the MOV Chamber and other Chambers in the state have been approved to offer this program to their members too!

We will hold an informational meeting on Friday, April 13 from 10:30am - 11:30am at the Judge Black Annex, 317 Market Street, Parkersburg.  Our role as a Chamber is to share news of this great member benefit to you and to get you in contact with one of our insurance members who are licensed to broker this plan to small businesses.

Partner in Education Luncheon

Partner in Education Luncheon

This year marks our 33rd annual luncheon to bring together students, teachers, principals and business representatives in celebration of the MOV Chamber's Partner in Education program.

Each school’s Business Partner is asked to help offset the cost of the luncheon so that 2 students, 2 school representatives and 2 business representatives attend on behalf of each partnership. The cost is $175 for the 6 attendees. If you would like to bring additional students, school representatives or business representatives, the cost is $25/person.

If your business is one of several partners for the same school, I recommend that you connect with one another and the principal (or the school's partner in education liaison) to decide how many attendees you want to sponsor or other special reservation instructions. There is a section on the form to jot those instructions or give me a call to chat. Once I receive the business partner RSVPs, I then follow up with the principals with an exact count so that tables are set up correctly and things flow smoothly on the day of the event.

Payment is appreciated prior to the event either via credit card or check. (Instructions are in the link below.)

On-line registration will be open through Friday, April 13. Please call the Chamber office at 304.422.3588 to make any reservations after 4/13.

MOV Economic Outlook Presentation by WVU College of Business

MOV Economic Outlook Presentation by WVU College of Business

THIS EVENT IS BOOKED TO CAPACITY AND WE REGRET THAT WE CAN'T TAKE ANY ADDITIONAL RESERVATIONS.

Dr. John Deskins is the Director of Business and Economic Research and an associate professor at West Virginia University. His Economic Outlook reports for the State of West Virginia are very insightful and held in high regard by business leaders, legislators and municipalities.

We are honored that he is guiding a team of students in a new class at WVU this semester to prepare a regional economic study  and forecast report for the Mid-Ohio Valley.  And while you might be thinking that an economic presentation may be rather dry, please know Dr. Deskins is an entertaining and vibrant speaker. I'm confident he will mentor his students with the same characteristics.

This will be a great in-depth and exclusive opportunity for our business community to hear firsthand from our State’s most esteemed economist and his students.

Please join us for this special lunch presentation on Wednesday, April 25!

The lunch presentation will take place in Conference Rooms 100A & 100B in the Workforce & Community Education Building at WVU-P (Building 8 in the attached map: http://www.wvup.edu/current-students/life-at-wvu-parkersburg/campus-map/)

Lunch will be provided (please let us know on the registration form of any special dietary needs and we will do our best to accommodate those.) Pre-registration required and payment appreciated via credit card or check prior to the event.
